Othello: The Man Filled with Jealousy, Oliver Parker Love is magical, jealously is forgettable, but is it worth dying for? In the movie Othello, Oliver Parker shows a common dramatic romantic movie of young lovers and shows how young love can be easily broken up (killed), by jealousy. According to Othello, jealousy is important because if he can’t be Desdemona only lover than nobody can, but in reality, he is her only love. The manipulation from Iago has altered Othello thinking and believing that his “only true love” (Desdemona) is a cheater and should be killed for it. Iago’s goal to destroy Othello’s image reveals the importance of trust in relationships. In order for bonds to be secure, the bonds of trust need to remain unbroken in order to keep the peace. Once Iago’s trust in Othello is broken Iago decides to vain Othello’s life by destroying his trust in all he values. Iago’s trust is his wife and his promotion, they were both broken and Othello was completely responsible for both even one was not true. Iago is making his move because he is angry with Othello and sees he is vulnerable, but doesn’t know it yet.
