Ötzi “Backstabbed” in the Alps?
Ötzi is a prehistoric body preserved by ice. This body was thoroughly examined and yielded more information about Neolithic time. What was also found was that he’d been shot by an arrow. With this evidence an investigation began to find out why he died. This investigation branched off into many different theories. But one theory outways the rest. Let's start with who the Ice Man was and what condition he was found in. He was forty years old and lived five thousand years ago in the Neolithic era. Ötzi had many cuts and bruises. The Ice Man had a deep cut in his hand that was about three days old and a cut to the leg. He also had trauma to the brain suggesting a blow to the head. To the top it all off he had an arrowhead lodged in his back. This arrowhead is considered the death blow because it pierced a major artery causing him to bleed out. All of this shows his demise was not peaceful.
Moving on, the artifacts found on and around the ice man also provide crucial evidence. For one, Ötzi was a figure of importance judging by the rare copper axe that was found on him. First the Ice Man was recently in battle. He escapes and travels up the mountain and the back down it. On his way down he meets someone from his tribe and the eat filling the Ice Man’s stomach. The pair head back up the mountain but his companion has intentions on killing him. The killer takes aim fifteen kilometers below Ötzi. The arrow is fired and pierces a major artery in the Ice Man’s back. After making it to the body the killer removes his arrow shaft to avoid being identified by his arrow and leaves the valuable axe to avoid recognition.
