Our society is very malleable. The media controls what people are thinking and what they view. This causes them to compare themselves to the people in the media. Mass media has a great effect on gender it creates an ideology of inequality and normalizes it. It broadcast that sex is an aspect of gender and the concept that "men are men and women are women," (Aulette and Wittner 21). Mass media is something that is part of our society. Because we are surrounded by mass media we believe what we see. What is broadcasted on the media is teaching us that misogyny and sexism is acceptable. We are surrounded by the media and it affects our perception on what is gender and it's taught to us through mass media outlets. Gender is something that is taught to us, starting from the day we are born.

Another source that I am currently getting as well is the book Our Bodies Ourselves which during high school I decided to read. Which talks about how the media controls us in ways to either buy their products or to look like what they believe is the norm and much more. .
