Our Founding Father's Core Values

425 Words2 Pages
Our founding fathers based our nation upon certain core values. These values prompted men to take up arms to not obtain but defend them as well requiring some to make the ultimate sacrifice. These core values are liberty, individualism, equality and self-government. The pilgrims, the earliest settlers, came to this continent to pursue religious liberty since they were persecuted by government officials. The meaning of liberty is the freedom to act as one chooses as long as your actions do not interfere with the freedom or well being of theirs. Liberty is very special value that settlers from other nations desired since they had never experienced anything of its kind. The ability to be self reliant or to be one’s own master is individualism.
