Our Town is a award winning three act play written by Thornton Wilder. Few years later it was made into a motion picture. In the story, it takes place in Grover’s Corner, New Hampshire. It centers around two families living everyday life in the early 1900’s. Surrounded by the people that live a simple life. To some others, the tradition was to live is to get married and have kids lives. However, we are blind to see that we are too busy to focus on how to live the stages their lives, not actually living it. The director makes it to were at the wedding, the couple George and Emily, keep to themselves about having second chances and doubts. In the book, the couple telling their parents about their fears and doubts. However in the movie they kept their doubts to themselves and went on with the wedding. The main part that I saw that the director changed was near the ending. In the end of the play, Emily had just given birth and had became very weak to where she might not even make it. Within time Emily had passed due to hard labor. During her funeral she finds people she knew that had already passed away at the cemetery. As she met up with everyone, Emily is given the choice to go back to any memory she wished she could see. She wished to see her 25th birthday. She realized that it wasn’t what she was hoping for. After the memory was over, she’s back to the cemetery with the others and in the end of the story. Emily realizes that no one will truly understands how life is precious. Ending it with Mrs.Gibbs’ line “No, dear, they don’t understand.” (Wilder 103). In the film, Emily was sleeping and it was all a dream and she is laying down with her baby as George waits at the
