What difference does it make to “Go Green”?
Thesis: Recycling supports in conserving the environment in four ways.
Purpose: To inform others what impact the process of recycling can do for the environment.
Introduction:
I. What impact does waste or trash have on you? A. Environment is always impacted from these items
B. My mother would always recycle and therefore understand the impact it can make in the society and environment
II. Recycling helps the environment in four means. A. The saving of energy B. The decline of pollution C. The preservation of natural resources D. The saving of landfill zones
Body:
I. Recycling saves energy
A. Manufacturing the materials out of raw resources takes more energy than using a recycled product.

Recycling one aluminum can saves enough energy to keep a TV running for three hours. ("RECYCLING FACTS & STATS.")
2. Recycling 100 cans will have the power to light a bedroom for two whole weeks. ("11 Facts About Recycling.")
3. Recycling one glass bottle saves enough energy to light a 100-watt light bulb for four hours, power a computer for thirty minutes, or a television for twenty minutes. ("RECYCLING FACTS & STATS.")
II. Recycling reduces pollution
A. If the 21.5 million tons of food waste generated by people each year was composted, it would reduce the same amount of greenhouse gas as taking two million cars off the street. ("11 Facts About Recycling.")
B. One ton of recycled newsprint can save about 60 pounds of air pollutants. ("LessIsMore.org: Santa Barbara County's Recycling Resource.")
C. One ton of recycled glass is able to save 7.5 pounds of air pollutants from being released. ("LessIsMore.org: Santa Barbara County's Recycling Resource.")
III. Recycling preserves the environment resources
A. By replacing recovered scrap materials for the use of raw materials, recycling reduces the pressure to expand forestry and mining production, which can be environmentally damaging. ("Communicating the Benefits of

Recycling means that there is no need to chop down, extract or mine for more raw materials to make the things we use every day. ("LessIsMore.org: Santa Barbara County's Recycling Resource.")
1. One ton of plastic saves 16.3 barrels of oil. ("LessIsMore.org: Santa Barbara County's Recycling Resource.")
2. One ton of aluminum saves 4 tons of Bauxite Ore ("LessIsMore.org: Santa Barbara County's Recycling Resource.")
3. One ton of glass saves one ton of mixed limestone, soda ash and sand ("LessIsMore.org: Santa Barbara County's Recycling Resource.")
IV. Recycling saves space from landfills
A. After sorting out the trash and recyclables, and recycling what is recyclable, reduces the amount of waste going into landfills. ("Communicating the Benefits of Recycling.")
1. Recycling one ton each office paper and newsprint saves about 7.6 cubic yards of landfill space ("LessIsMore.org: Santa Barbara County's Recycling Resource.")
2. One ton of recycled plastic saves 30 cubic yards of landfill space ("LessIsMore.org: Santa Barbara County's Recycling Resource.")
3. One ton of recycled glass 2 cubic yards of landfill space ("LessIsMore.org: Santa Barbara County's Recycling Resource.")
4. One ton of recycled aluminum saves 10 cubic yards of landfill space. ("LessIsMore.org: Santa Barbara County's Recycling
