Romeo and Juliet is a novel where two star-crossed lovers take their life due to a long lasting feud. The two families, the Montagues and the Capulets, have so much immense hate for each other that it will soon lead many people to the point of death. Romeo, an intelligent, lovesick boy from the Montague family and his lover Juliet, a young, naive girl from the Capulet family are deeply engrossed with love in each other. During the lover's path, there was so much anger and hatred making it impossible for them to be together and love each other. When we act in rage and we are not thinking of any of the consequences and the people that are affected by our rage. One example of this shown in the text was on Act 3 Scene 1 pg.1091 when Mercutio says, “Will you pluck your sword out of his pilcher by the ears? Make haste, lest mine be about your ears ere it be out.” Mercutio has such enmity against Tybalt his anger takes the best of him causing him to duel with Tybalt. In simply seeing Tybalt a growling beast emerges causing so much anger that you lose all of your senses and lose focus on what’s going on. Neither Tybalt nor Mercutio truly know one another. Both characters assume what one another’s purposes are or who they are, however, they continue to fight to the point of death. Due to Mercutio’s anger, he ends up getting killed by Tybalt, an act of violence caused by fury. After Mercutio’s death, Romeo is unable to control his anger and violently exclaims “Now, Tybalt, take the “villain” back again That late thou gavest me, for Mercutio’s soul … Either thou or I, or both, must go with him,” on pg.1092. This leads to Romeo having a duel with Tybalt and Romeo does not think of the consequences. Romeo does not realize how devastated his wife, Juliet, would be finding Tybalt on his deathbed, he does not realize that he is on the last string of being banished. From the beginning of the story there have been violent outbreaks. Why, you may ask? All of these were derived from anger. It was natural for there to be hatred and detestation between Capulets and Montagues. So much so that once they see each other on the streets they are immediately angered for an incredulous reason. Afterwards, violence and duels start. This anger causes people to be killed and causes and intense boundary between civilians. “ That quench the fire of your pernicious rage With purple fountains issuing from your veins! On pain of torture, from those bloody hands… Three civil brawls, bred of an airy word,” it says in the text. The rage between the Capulets and the Montagues caused so many “civil brawls” and bloodshed. The quote explain how the rage and feud between the Capulets and the Montagues went so high as to now, there is bloodshed and disputes between civilians. Without either of the sides knowing, the anger is doing them harm because the prince gave them a last warning and a death warning. While it may be true that at the end, the Capulets and the Montagues were reunited because of the anger and hate but the destruction caused by the anger and hate is horrifying. On pg. 1086, Friar expresses, These violent delights have violent ends, And in their triumph die, like fire and powder.” What this evidence suggests is the violence
