By owning a car, I would have to take into consideration overhead costs. These costs are incurred by simply owning a car. They will ensure that I have the car ready to use, they do not depend on how much I use the car. Overhead cost is a broad category of fixed costs that includes rent, and taxes. The overhead cost of owning a car would include insurance, registration, licenses, taxes, and depreciation.
Car insurance is a policy that reduces the fees someone would have to pay if they got into a car accident. Instead of directly paying for a car accident, people pay an annual amount to a car insurance company that then pays all, or almost all of the costs involved with an accident. Car insurance is mandated in almost every state.
