The current case study is about Dr. Owen Hunt, a fictional character from Greys’s Anatomy, a televised series that airs on ABC and that was created by Shonda Rhimes. Dr. Owen Hunt is a trauma surgeon in his thirties who has a diagnosis as well as observable symptoms of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Hunt grew up in the big city of Seattle and suffered from the loss of his father when he was only 10 years old. That loss made him very protective of his younger sister, Megan. Hunt went on to be very successful as he studied at Harvard University and became a trauma surgeon. He began his surgical career after he enlisted in the US army along with his sister Megan. Hunt was exposed to. Shortly before being discharged, he lost his sister. Indeed, Owen and Megan were together when an attack struck and they had to move patients. Owen had convinced Megan to escape in a helicopter that was carrying patients in order to ensure her safety. Unfortunately, the helicopter was never seen again. After having searched for her relentlessly, Dr. Hunt tried to come to terms with the fact that she must have died. He also became progressively more aggressive when triggered by cues that reminded him of his time in the army. The most distressing occurrence of aggressive behaviour to Owen was when he physically injured the woman he loved during his sleep. Indeed, one night Owen fell asleep to the ceiling fan paddles turning, which reminded him of helicopter blades. He frequently travelled in a helicopter in Iraq and the last time he saw his sister was when she was embarking in a helicopter. He relived the attack that lead to the death of his platoon through his dreams and woke up with his hands around Christina’s neck, believing he is fighting for his life in Iraq. This event caused him immense distress and made him incredibly scared of what he could do to those he loves unconsciously.
