In the 20th century, Picasso moved to Paris, France to start his own studio. Many artists called this time the Blue Period of his adult career, which was from 1901-1904. Picasso 's famous paintings from the Blue period were "Blue Nude", "LaVie", and "The old Guitarist". Picasso also was interested in warmer colors and called this period the Rose period from 1904-1906.
The most influential is Pablo Picasso and his paintings. “Les Demoiselles was the precursor of a new style called cubism” (395). Cubism was a new style of modern art. With the spread of technology and finding its’ way into the art realm, it produced a new style art called “Futurism”. Since the Modernism era was about expression away from tradition, this idea was the birth of “expressionism” in art.

Vincent Van Gogh was born March 30, 1853 in Zundert, Netherlands. His mother, Anna Carbentus van Gogh was an artist who loved nature, drawing, and watercolors. Father, Theodorus van Gogh, was a minister. Van Gogh had five siblings, two brothers and three sisters. As a child his family was struggling, with six kids in the house.
The painting depicts what seems to be a panoramic view from afar but looking closely each aperture and objects make up the impressions of faces. From the left side there seems to be an aperture looking over a big cliff with branches of trees. This cliff and branches make up the face of an old person. The rock exposures within the cliff form the illusions of wrinkles, wrinkly lips and a long and untreated mustache. The branches give the effect of baldness, contributing to the overall appearance of an old man’s face.
Vincent Van Gogh was born in Groot-Zundert, Holland on March, 30 1853. His father, Theodorus Van Gogh, was a pastor, his mother, Anna Cornelia Carbentus, was an artist. He was born one year after his brother who was a stillbirth. He was brought in a very religious and cultured environment. When Van Gogh was 15 he was forced to leave school and go to work.

This does fit his main ideas for the first several years, all the images on the canvas resembled and were meant to symbolize him, plus the concept of time was one of his biggest drives while he painted the images. Another aspect was that the image had a left to right style of paint of brush strokes to it, since the man moved across the surface, paint brush sweeping in broad strokes, in a motion that somehow gave the painting a sense of motion and energy that this artist viewed as the whole point of creativity. There is even a glint in his eyes and the suggestion the man was amused by my reaction.

Picasso got most of his inspiration to paint from his father. According to Picasso’s parents Picasso’s first word was “piz” short for lapiz and translates to pencil.
