In the essay "Friends, Good Friends - And Such Good Friends," Judith Viorst argues that different levels of friendship exist, ranging from casual acquaintances to best friends, and that it is essential to recognize these various types of friendships. Viorst employs rhetorical devices, such as contrast using anecdotes and parenthesis to include humor and evoke pathos to explore the nuances of friendships. Her purpose is to examine different friendships by reflecting on what makes a good friend and offering insight into how readers can identify and appreciate true friendships in their lives. She writes in a light-hearted and conversational tone to encourage Redbook readers, typically young adult women, to invest energy into meaningful friendships.
“A friend will strengthen you with his prayers, bless you with his love, and encourage you with his love,” (Proverb Zone). Friendship is the helping of others by inviting them to be a part of one’s life. In Chris Crutcher’s Whale Talk, T.J. has to build a swim team that can achieve a letterman jacket to prove others wrong about themselves. Friendship is seen throughout many books including this one. In Whale Talk, Chris Crutcher demonstrates friendship ensures that people are not alone through school teams, anti-bullying, and mentorship.
This, I believe, helps portray and almost convey the emotion in the reader to help imagine the feeling of losing something that you made yourself and took lots of time and effort, showing that love isn't just an emotion that can cause happiness, but also can cause grief at the same time. Furthermore, the shortness of the poem and also the vagueness of the issue gives the reader more freedom to make their own conclusion on what that theme is or even how love affects us personally, is it good or bad? What I really find interesting, though, is it is an Ode to Alberta praising the place. This is fascinating because it starts the ode off in a painful and violent direction, making you wonder why to be thankful for a place like this.
It is quiet understanding, mutual confidence, sharing and forgiving. It is loyalty through good and bad times. It settles for less than perfection and makes allowances for human weaknesses.” This quotation means that friendship is can be good, and bad. Understanding one another through good, and bad, but allowing the other to get hurt causes greater problems.
Friendship took on a new name today You came into the room You began moving with purpose, moving with grace Nothing is quite the same in our place Friendship grew to new heights the day You stood on the line Came out of your comfort zone Helped remove the stones along the way Friendship adds lace to life’s seams every day That your love pours water for the thirsty, Sews, pastes, cuts, binds and delivers limited resources Encourages the hesitant and troubled to pray Friendship, your friendship has made us complete Like cobbler and fruitcake, it’s heartwarming sweet Given freely, it has helped – gosh – a plenty To draw others near to serve and cheer many Friendship, your friendship has helped us stand on the line
This poem showed that anyone can be somebody no matter what background they came from or situation they're in. He then proceeded to say that people need
True friendship are like diamonds, precious and rare. False friends are like leaves, found everywhere. This mean like the friends are something Variable what do you take care. The quote connect with the short story “funeral” because the friends who care for you like diamonds will never forget you. The theme of the funeral by Ralph
JP1-02 defines an insurgency as “An organized movement aimed at the overthrow of a constituted government through use of subversion and armed conflict”. Al Qaeda in Iraq (AQI) is a modern example of an insurgency. This insurgency arose after the invasion or “liberation” of Iraq by United States and Coalition forces in March of 2003. AQI supports the JP1-02 definition of an insurgency. I will give a background on the rise and decline of AQI.
In the poem “Making Sarah Cry”, the theme is friendship because poor Sarah is getting bullied by someone who eventually becomes her friend. She is getting picked on because of her disabilities. When the person who was bullying her gets picked on she stands up for him and tells the bullies that they are mean and should not be doing this because she knows how it feels. This shows friendship because even though he did bully her, she knows being bullied hurts.
The poem feels very personal, as if the reader is reading a private letter between two dear friends, perhaps due to the fact that Lanyer uses
This is an important role of poetry because everyone loses something precious to them at some point in their life. Her next example talks of a person who can receive
“A friend is someone who knows all about you and still loves you.” This quote from Elbert Hubbard is perfectly represented in Of Mice and Men in the many different friendships that take place. Throughout life, we all make friends and share many experiences with them. This is an important part of what makes us the people we are today. Friendship also affects the way that we act towards others.
The ones that stay with you through everything - they're your true best friends. Don't let go of them.” How true this statement is and one reason I love this speech so much. She goes on to say the same about lovers, which is beyond true, especially when she says that most of them will break your heart. At this point of the speech your hooked and have been from the beginning.
All of the main characters fight for friendship even if they do so in different ways and for different reasons. All of them feel in need of someone to talk to if it is about science, about what horrible things one has done or about being different and alone. Another feature is the loss of friendship in all cases. Victor loses his friends to death, and so does Walton while the creature never really “fulfilled his dream of being anyone’s true friend” (Jeray 69). This way the novel not only shows the importance of friendship and having companions but also the possible consequences of either being rejected by everyone or of losing beloved people partly even due to own
The literary elements in this poem add to the effect the poem has on the reader, which can be different for everyone, but it makes the reader reflect on their own life and how kindness has changed
