Whenever I think of breakfast, I think of three things: scrambled eggs, bacon, and of course, bagels. Anytime I walk into a Panera Bread Company, I am overwhelmed with all of my choices. Should I pick chocolate chip? Or should I go with a plain bagel with blueberry cream cheese? Today, there are so many different combinations of bagels and all of the toppings and spreads that come with a deliciously crispy, toasted bagel. However, many people do not stop to think about where bagels were actually invented. Although bagels are often thought of as just a breakfast food, bagels in fact have a long history rooted in Eastern Europe and even today aid a local café, Yogi’s Deli and Grill, in bringing together the Fort Worth community. Yogi’s Deli and Grill is, in fact, very active in the Fort Worth community. Locals rave about his restaurant, and it was even “voted for Best Bagels by the Fort Worth Weekly and Best Breakfast by the Fort Worth Magazine” (“About Us”). According to the Fort Worth Weekly, “Yogi’s boasts a storefront full of bagel varieties and a chalkboard full of ways to eat them. This popular and often crowded deli can satisfy even the most finicky palates” (“Best of 2009”). Locals cannot seem to get enough of Yogi’s Deli and Grill largely due to the welcoming atmosphere and enticing décor as well as the delicious food.
Besides being loved locally, Yogi’s is also very involved when it comes to TCU. He is always there to help cater events, and is an ecstatic fan of Texas Christian University despite the fact of growing up in Waco, Texas and attending University of Texas at Austin (“About Us”). Florsheim is extremely “vested and involved in the Fort Worth community, especially with the TCU Athletics Department... Yogi [also] supplies the bagels for TCU’s main cafeteria!” (“About Us”).
