“I am attracted to people, attracted to the words they speak and to the actions they make; attracted to their quirky mannerisms, to their hopes and dreams, and to their beating hearts — their beautiful hearts — which emphasize their true personalities that make them more alluring. I am attracted to people.” I had the opportunity of reading these words when my dearest friend gave me a letter explaining her true sexuality, that she is a pansexual. I was flabbergasted, to say the least, for I have never encountered anyone with that kind of gender identity. Provided that the term is rarely used compared to the terms heterosexual, homosexual, and bisexual, this then makes the concept more intriguing than it already is.

The use of the term pansexual is to convey that they are open to getting enthralled by a person despite the person’s gender or sexual orientation (“What is Pansexual,” 2015). Also, contrary to popular belief, pansexuals may be in a relationship with a heterosexual without discrediting their true sexual identity.
