Domestic violence is an epidemic across the world. 1 in 4 women and 1 in 7 men suffer from severe domestic violence from their partners (Vagianos, 2015). Domestic violence is consist abuse that can be psychological, sexual, physical, economic or emotional from a partner in order to gain control of their intimate partner (Justice, 2017). According to Industrial Psychiatry Journal, domestic violence is these categories were found that sexual violence occurs in 2% of victims, physical violence was 19.6%, financial violence in 11.3% and emotional violence in 25.3% (Shah, Rajani, Kataria, Trivedi, & Patel, 2012). According to the Department of Justice psychological abuse includes destroying property and family animals, threatening to induce harm on themselves, children, family, friends and their partner, forcing isolation upon their partner whether it is from school, work, or family and stalking. (Justice, 2017). 4.8% of females and 0.6% of males experience stalking in a domestic violence relationship (Tjaden & Thoennes, 2000). Sexual abuse marital rape, the attempt to force their partner to complete any sexual act even try to force sex after physically abusing their partner (Justice, 2017). 7.7% in women and 0.3% in men suffer from rape throughout their lifetime in domestic violence relationships (Tjaden & Thoennes, 2000). 4,774,000 women suffer from physical abuse every year, 3 women are murdered every day from domestic violence (Vagianos, 2015). Physical abuse includes but is not limited to hitting, scratching, slapping, throwing, pushing, etc, it can also include not allowing their partner to get medical care after they physical assault them (Justice, 2017).
