Paper Towns The book Paper Towns by John Green begins with two nine year old best friends going on a bike ride in their neighborhood in Jefferson Park, Florida. The two nine year olds were named Quentin Jacobsen and Margo Roth Spiegelman. While on their bike ride they noticed something particularly strange,a still body leaned up against a tree. When they moved closer towards the body they realized that it was a man who had shot himself. Margo quickly becomes fascinated with the death of this stranger and she wonders what caused all of the, “strings inside of him” to break, however, Quentin is more freaked out by it than anything. Margo is Quentin’s next door neighbor, so he often sees her sneaking out of the house and getting in the car with her friends, and then he continues to see her at school, so he is always seeing Margo and thinking about her. Quentin has always been obsessed with Margo, ever since she moved into Quentin’s neighborhood when she was a young girl, but Margo never got around to talking to Quentin anymore. That was until one school night of Quentin’s senior year at Jefferson Park High school when Margo snuck out of her house and climbed on to Quentin’s roof to knock on his window in the middle of the night. Once Quentin opened the window, Margo explained that she needed him to drive his mom’s minivan all across town so that she could do some very important things. These important things were sneaking into her ex-best friend, Becca Arlington’s house where Margo’s ex-boyfriend who cheated on her, Jase Wellington, was staying at so that she could prank them, and then sneak into their school bully’s house, Chuck Parson, and then sneak into …show more content…

Together they all find clues that lead them to believe Margo is in Agloe, New York, which is one of the most well known paper towns in the United States. A paper town is a town marked on a map that doesn't actually exist and is used to help map making companies avoid being plagiarized, and Margo was obsessed with them, so the gang of friends knew that they would find her there.
