Paper Towns, written by John Green, was first published in 2008. This story occurs during modern time in and around Orlando, Florida. The story is told in first-person participant as told by Quentin Jacobson. There are 5 main characters in the book. They are Quentin, Margo, Ben, Radar, and Lacey. Quentin is a very smart kid, who has a huge crush on Margo. Margo is Quentin’s next door neighbor, who is very pretty and popular. Ben is one of Quentin’s best friends who helps him out throughout the story. Radar is Quentin’s other best friend, who is very good with computers, and also helps him out. A dead body is decomposing at the base of one of the park’s trees. The two kids, Quentin Jacobson and Margo Roth Spiegelman rush home to tell their parents about the scarring scene that they had encountered. Quentin wants to forget about the disgusting dead body, but Margo finds out that the man had killed himself and wonders why. Nine years later, when they are both in their senior year of high school, in the middle of the night, Quentin is working quietly in his room when all of a sudden Margo bursts through his bedroom window and demands that he help her with something. Quentin is astonished, because he and Margo hadn’t hung out since they had discovered the dead body. Margo wants Quentin to drive her around on a spree of revenge against her cheating boyfriend, and some other people who annoy her. Quentin reluctantly agrees and drives her around at 3:00 in the morning on a school night. They vandalize houses and cars with spray paint and stinky fish, and to top it off, they break into SeaWorld.
