I was also able to shadow doctors and nurses which helped to develop my understanding of patient care, medical knowledge and the desires of the health care team in order to provide outstanding care. Ultimately, this led ‘Lockstown practice’ to offer me a paid part time job.

I also volunteered at Walsall Manor Hospital for the charity ‘Kissing it Better’. From this, I have gained a deeper understanding of what it’s like to be involved with the NHS. I visited patients with dementia and listened to their stories helping them to feel valued. I also completed a first aid course with St Johns Ambulance gaining a certificate in Essential and Basic First Aid. In Summer 2016, I participated in the National Citizen Service for 3 weeks and I have recently volunteered at St. Giles charity
