The Good, The Bad, and Romeo and Juliet “You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough”(Mae West). In Romeo and Juliet there is a man named Romeo and girl named Juliet. They meet but their families are feuding so they’re not supposed to be together so they make a plan to run away together. There is some miscommunication and they end killing themselves and ending the families feud while they're at it. But in Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, Fr. Lawrence and the Nurse should be pardoned and Lord Capulet should be punished. The first character that should be pardoned is Friar Lawrence. This quote was chosen because it shows that she cares for Juliet and wants to make sure she is as happy as can be. A second reason would be is that she is loyal to Juliet. For example she went to Romeo as a messenger because she is loyal to Juliet. This example shows she is loyal because she is willing to risk going to the montagues to be a messenger for Juliet. These are reasons that the Nurse should be pardoned. One character that shouldn’t be pardoned is Lord Capulet. “My sword, I say! Old Montague is come,/And flourishes his blade in spite of me”(Shakespeare I.i.67-68). This quote was chosen because it is meant to show Old Capulet’s hate toward the Montagues. A third reason that Lord Capulet shouldn’t be pardoned is that he is the reason that Romeo and Juliet died. He’s the reason because he forced Juliet to marry Paris when she didn’t want too.
