Racism is all over the world and is not changing. Many people do not feel that it is a problem, but racism affects society in many ways. Just as in the novel, The Absolutely True Diary of a Part- Time Indian, racism is a main focus in literature, just like in real life. The novel shows interactions between a kid named Junior and how he deals with racism as a Native American. Racism is a complex issue that affects many people, mentally and physically. Although many feel that racism is over exaggerated, some factors that should influence change in racism include self image, poverty, or environment. Some people feel that racism is not a big deal. It is hard to get a good education past high school without having money and without a good education can affect getting jobs later on in life. Poverty is a big thing in society. Racism also plays a big role in people who are in poverty. Some places in society make it hard for people from other races to get jobs. Racism can contribute to poverty by creating unequal opportunities for men and women who are not of the same race as others. It can limit access to education, employment, and resources. Discrimination based on race can lead to biased hiring, where qualified individuals may be overlooked based on their color. They may not be given the same opportunities as others and treated unfairly, which can affect how they can care for themselves and their families. They may not be able to provide food or the basic needs because of their race and the way someone feels about them. Also, they are not able to have the opportunities and opportunities as others may have to be president or involved with the government because they may not have the education or be able to afford the things they need to be professional about
