Racism is one of the most important social issues of the modern world. It has affected millions of people worldwide, and is one of the deepest social problems in history.Hook, Authors, Titles, Main Characters, Summary of passages One of the main messages that I found throughout the texts was that racial inequality still exists. Before we started this unit I had no idea that this was still going on in people's lives, but I have now noticed that this is something that goes on every day. In the book All American Boys by Brendan Kiely and Jason Reynolds I found that racial inequality is a big theme. On the first page of the book Quinn states, “A lady tripping over Rashad at the store, making him drop a bag of chips, was what started it all. Because it didn’t matter what Rashad said next—that it was an accident, that he wasn’t stealing—the cop just kept pounding him. Now, this could just be a simple mistake but, since Rashad is black I think is definitely played a roll. There was also a woman in the store at the time. She also had chips in her hand but was not accused for stealing them. The woman was white. No one yelled at her and no one had anything against her. Rashad was beaten by a white cop.
