Many people believe they should get participation trophies, but many people believe they should not. I think kids should get participation trophies at young ages only. Participation trophies are not beneficial to kids and adults for lots of reasons. They could possibly lead to narcissism. According to CNN, studies have shown that parents that overvalue their kids, the kids are more likely to develop narcissistic traits. “That if you tell a kid that they’re wonderful, and they believe you, then is confirms beliefs and that’s not about a healthy self-esteem, it’s narcissism.”
It’s true how many adults say that kids are easily impressionable and take lead from parents, guardians, or others around them. What kids are taught from a young age can shape how they view the world, act, respond, and even live. Surprisingly, giving a kid a participation trophy in sports is one of those things that many debates about because giving one to them will depend on how their life is shaped and what lessons they are taught. Not giving a kid a participation trophy in sports is more beneficial in teaching them the lessons of proper effort and winning or losing. It also shows how diminishing hard work which can lead to negative outcomes.
Participation trophies can be very helpful to elementary kids or very harmful. The effect they have on kids could be destructive. But on the other hand they could be beneficial. Participation trophies are beneficial because they make kids fall in love with playing sports and they boost confidence. Participation trophies make kids fall in love with their sport.

Participation trophies affect an adolescent’s motivation. If a trophy is awarded to those that win and those that lose, then there is no real difference between the winners and losers.
In today’s society, more and more kids are getting participation trophies for doing nothing except showing up. Yes it is important to teach kids to do their best, but being awarded just for being as good as you already are doesn't give kids the motivation to make themselves even better. Why would they want to improve if they already have that shiny trophy? I do not believe that participation trophies should be handed out like they are.
For multiple reasons, no one should earn a trophy for participation, only if they earned it or won it. The reasons are that the children wouldn 't know that you don 't earn an award for just doing something. You dont earn a reward for making a mistake. Kids would expect to have a reward every time they do something. The trophies would just collect dust on shelves.
