Party City is a large chain of stores that sells decorations and costumes for different occasions such as Easter, Christmas and Halloween. Usually, when companies try to sell specific merchandise, sometimes associated with different seasons, they create an ad. This ad by Party City was dedicated to Halloween as they were promoting costumes, specifically for children. Although halloween costumes can be bought from any store, Party City emphasizes on the importance of purchasing at their store through the emphasis of kids’ strength and confidence in their costumes. They’re also holding trick or treating baggies which hints that they are heading to houses to get candy. The background is the same for all the children, so it appears that they are all heading the same direction. Adding on, they added different kids from different ethnicities so as to show diversity. While they are heading to the house, they have a look on their faces that shows determination.The focus of ad is the child dressed as captain America who walks to the door of what looks like a haunted house. Even though the house appeared to be haunted or abandoned at first, the child ends up receiving candy with a big smile on his face to show that this in fact was not the case. He even then appears as though he accomplished his mission. Near the end of the ad, a man’s voice says “Halloween, it’s a big night kids” which shows that the focused audience is on kids. At the end they showcase their items and with big letter they show “4.99” to demonstrate that their costumes are not only “cool” but also affordable which would definitely attract more consumers.
