Dear Jerry Bruckheimer, I am writing to you because there is a 486-page book that I recently read that is called “Passenger” by Alexandra Bracken. It has instantly become a New York Times best seller. The book is about a young lady named Etta Linden who has lived a normal life with her mother Rose in New York City, but later falls into a portal with a girl name Sophia that leads back to a ship called the Ardent in the year 1776. She meets up with an African American by the name of Nicholas Carter. He explains to her that a man who happens to be her “grandfather” by the name of Cyrus wants him to return her and Sophia to New York City in exchange for money. Nicholas Carter is the captain of a crew that him and a man named Hall had captured and has them working on the ship. Etta learns that she apart of one of the families that can time travel through passages and that is under the strict control of Cyrus. Upon meeting Cyrus in New York, she learns that Cyrus has kidnapped her mother and will kill her if Etta does not find an important astrolabe that had been stolen (by her mother) He gives her 8 days to find the astrolabe. The plot line and characters would help many people relate to how much struggle there truly is in life and how to overcome these obstacles. Just like with Nicholas, many people regret the mistakes they made in the past, and have a hard time moving forward with life because they have let it ruin any hopes for their futures. But people like Etta, help people like Nicholas to get back up onto their feet and realize that there is hope for a brighter future, and that no one should be held back down by their
