Passion And Determination In Romeo And Juliet

Some might think that passion and/or determination has a good ending but not in this case. Starting with two young lovers that secretly get married, even though they come from two families in a feud. As the many family conflicts happen, they both make their big sacrifice and kill themselves for for each other. The passion that the characters had for each other throughout the play did not end how they expected it to. In the play Romeo and Juliet written by William Shakespeare, many people can be blamed for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet; most to blame are Juliet, Friar Lawerence, and Capulet. Capulet has proved himself to be a not so great especially by telling Juliet that she either has to marry Paris or be disowned by the family. When Capulet and Juliet are now talking in her room, she wants her father to understand that she does not love Paris. But he still goes on to say “I tell thee what. Get thee to church a Thursday,/ Or never after look me in the face.” (3.5.161-162) Capulet is frustrated with Juliet and is getting mad because in his mind she has to marry Paris. Even though Juliet tries to explain that she is not in love with Paris, her father will still banish her from the family. Capulet is seen as not caring for his daughter at this point but later on in the play after she has died he suddenly shows some love and care. If Juliet would have known that her father truly loved her she might have reconsidered drinking the vial and just telling him about Romeo. At the end of the play after Romeo and Juliet have both died, the families have met and come together and are not fighting. Montague even states “ For I will ray her statue in pure gold.” (5.3.299) He is showing a peaceful gesture by making a statue of gold in remembrance for Juliet. If Capulet had just ended the war between the families going ago, romeo and Juliet would have not had to hide their marriage would be alive and well. Capulet and Friar were not the only ones to blame but Juliet herself
