In the video “Past, Present, and Promise”, psychology is labeled as the scientific study of the behavior of individuals and their mental processes. A profuse amount of psychologists in the psychology field help distinct people with mental health disorders which consist and involve both anxiety and depression. Psychologists advise people in many ways such as people with chronic illnesses and different issues that occur within that individual. A great quantity of psychologists then take the research they collected and then try to attempt and predict different cases that they’re studying. Donchin then produced a procedure for his study, which was set to involve putting the standard EEG electrodes on a person’s head, which then continued to record the brain activity as the clinical records. With this procedure beginning, it started to create a series of events which end up repeating themselves and each event over and over. With that in mind, the computer's reviewed the overall brain activity and filtered out crucial specific responses to the events that they are looking firmly at. With an event related potential, created a start series of waves in it. Donich was fascinated with the P300 wave, also known as the brain’s characteristic response to an unexpected, but critical event. He then pursued to wrist and speak a list of names, in which most of the names were men names. Each individual listened and participated in the study. While taking part in the study each individual were handed a control with two buttons, one representing a male and female button. When hearing the names mentioned, determined the button in which they were to press. Rosenthal of Harvard describe nonverbal communication? What is Dr. Rosenthal studying and what do his results tell us or suggest? What happens when our verbal and nonverbal cues don't match? Dr. Rosenthal of Harvard describes non-verbal communication as the communication between people omitting all the words. By omitting these words, it goes off of people’s facial expressions, body movement, and tone of voice which are considered to be the primary challenge. Dr. Rosenthal noticed that the channels of nonverbal communication were more redundant, and how some of the channels contradicted each other. Dr. Rosenthal is studying how people send out and receive these nonverbal messages. Different issues can occur such as when nonverbal and verbal cues don’t match, this creates a problem by which the person portrays different things towards other people, such as lack of body language, gestures, tone of voice and eye contact. When our verbal and nonverbal cues match, it creates a great amount of power that helps you connect with other people, and to build a better relationship with an individual, but with them not matching it lacks these
