The issue with alcoholism is that it is a problem that cannot be realistically solved. This essay will discuss the problem, solutions, and pathos of alcoholism. Alcoholism is the chronic disease that plagues humans who turn to alcohol in order to cope with the endeavors of life and stresses that societal expectations place on them. The reliance on alcohol is not only dangerous for one’s health, but also for their relationships and personal lives. Sadly, multitudes of people believe the lie that alcohol will solve every problem. In reality, it creates and amplifies problems that could otherwise be dealt with by seeking help. One may think that their drinking problem only affects them; in actuality, it affects the ones who are closest to them. Drinking to resolve issues can cause a loss in relationships that prove otherwise vital to one’s happiness. In addition, alcoholics lack the realization that drowning themselves in liquor can be detrimental to their personal lives. There are numerous ways that alcoholism can be cured but there is one issue that people encounter, admitting they have a problem. The admittance to having a drinking problem can be the most difficult step in the process of recovering. Once they have admitted the problem then the healing process can start. The most common option for curing alcoholism is a rehabilitation center. These centers provide psychological support, housing, and food for the patients. Another is becoming involved in an Alcohol Anonyms (AA) program. These programs have meetings where people who are also struggling with addiction meet and share their stories with the whole group.
