The Neo-Classic literary movement was a very logical and reasoning movement. A prominent Neo-Classic figure is Patrick Henry who believed he can antagonize Britain by imputing every hardship they faced to Britain. The Neo-Classic idea of freedom from tyranny is best exemplified by Patrick Henry. Patrick Henry excellently uses ethos to communicate his viewpoint on freedom from tyranny. Henry says "...but as for me, give me liberty or give me death!" Henry shows his own belief, which is that he would rather stand up for his country and fight for its people. It establishes his place amongst the people of the country and since he is one of them he is more likely to prove his point and gain the trust and respect of the people in his fight for liberty.“No man thinks more highly than I do of the patriotism, as well as abilities, of the very worthy gentlemen who have just addressed the House.” Henry obviously cares very much so about his country and so he's sharing this with the House. Henry is appealing to logic by discussing the weakening spirit within the colonies due to the Intolerable Acts. It’s important because by knowing the weaknesses we know how to become stronger. "The war is inevitable and let it come! I repeat it, sir, let it come." Henry is using an appeal to logic by stating that no matter what they do, war will come. It’s important because he is attempting to show his fellow men that there is only one remaining course and that they should follow that course into a war of the revolution.
