Patron is one of the most recognizable brands of tequila on the market. Cheaper tequilas are not as smooth, as Patron. Tequila in general has always had a negative perspective as compared to other alcohols. Patron set out to change the ways millennials view alcohol. Patron has been relatively available anywhere alcohol is served. Patron’s packaging is a major category when it comes to its current marketing strategy. The promotion video used on Patron’s website is titled “60 Hands.” This title refers to the concept that it takes about 60 hands to product a bottle of Patron tequila. A good fraction of those hands are designated for Patron’s packaging. The bottles are made by glass artisans in Mexico who individually produce each bottle as a work of art. The corks are also an essential part of the brand as explained in the video. Skilled workers cut off the top layer of the cork tree and the product is carefully shaped and stamped. However, if experienced tequila drinkers do not believe it is up to par, they are likely to purchase a bottle of Don Julio which was the number one selling tequila last year at a comparable price of $58.99 per 750ml
