In the short story, “The Notorious Jumping Frog of Caleveras County” by Mark Twain, there are many examples of irony. Some types of irony include, verbal irony, situational irony, and dramatic irony. Verbal irony is when someone says something that means the opposite, situational irony is when a situation’s outcome is inconsistent with what we expect to happen. Dramatic irony is when the audience is aware of something the character doesn’t know. First of all, an example of situational irony is when Andrew Jackson, Jim Smiley’s dog, was fighting a dog with no back legs.
In the comic book Bitch Planet, writer Kelly Sue DeConnick and artist Valetine De Landro create a parallel universe which contains a place called Bitch Planet, where women are sent to for being non-compliant. Being charged with non-compliance results from a variety of crimes: too fat, too thin, too secular, too religious, the list goes on. Though at first this may seem like an unrealistic exaggeration, after a close reading, it becomes clear the Bitch Planet and the things that happen there are a cultural metaphor for our own world. One of the ways in which DeConnick and De Landro draw this parallel is by using various aspects of the Megaton and the events leading up to it as a satire on gender roles, gender inequality, and society’s role in these areas. As soon as Kam agrees to arrange a team of women to participate in the Megaton, the Megaton instructional video begins playing.
Review the video on Kevin Trudeau, and discuss how you determine the credibility of information. In the video while being interviewed Kevin Trudeau makes a lot of statements and has little to no proof to back up with he was saying. He uses paid celebrity hosts to help influence his customers and make his product look more credible. He uses presumed credibility based on the celebrities name or a brand customers have heard of in the past, making a buyer presume the product is what is says it should be.

The video depicting the course of heroin addiction/use in the United States begins by introducing the audience to the late 1960’s in which consisted of a “wave of violence and drug users” (Vox). Strict penalties resulted in the beginning of the “war” on heroin. Despite the spending of 100 billions of dollars over a course of 40 years, efforts seemed to have made little difference in the amount of heroin users. Rockefeller, a resident of the city ranked as one of the highest heroin addiction rates in the ‘70’s, instilled harsh drug laws which influenced other individuals such as John Dunn who sponsored a new law demanding mandatory prison sentences up to life for heroin abusers and sellers in the possession of more than 1 oz. of the drug. Final Philosophy 201500119 Q1. “For a large class of cases—though not for all—in which we employ the word 'meaning' it can be defined thus: the meaning of a word is its use in the language.” (Philosophical Investigations, section 43). In this quote, Wittgenstein challenges the picture theory of meaning.

Work and school can be stressful, I tend to draw what the instructor is talking plus it’s the same way as taking notes but in drawing. I work night shift which means I am awake the whole night and if I have class, I am also awake half of the day. It can get tiring and I intend to fall asleep when instruct is talking, to stay awake I must find a distraction so whenever I must take notes I draw what the instructor is talking about and that helps me out a lot. And one of my instructor also said when taking a test and you don’t know the answer, you can draw a picture it shows that your knowledge that there was question
