“It’s time to start telling the truth, little brother. Do you understand what I’m saying?”(269). The truth, something that takes many people to reveal in a person. In the story Tangerine, by: Edward Bloor, The truth takes a family and set of friends to help Erik Fisher, Arthur Bauer, and Paul Fisher to reveal the truth about themselves and each other, like shapes. Shapes reveal each other’s flaws and imperfections.
Recently I read the book, Tangerine. The story is about a boy named Paul Fisher and his family moving to Tangerine, Florida. The theme is even though it appears perfect on the outside, the inside is grotesque. In this passage, there are many ugly things that happen to Paul and his family. Beguile occurrences take place in the form of a muck fire, sinkhole, and thievery.
Erik is to stay inside, not on the lawn but inside. Dad nods glumly. “Arthur is under arrest for killing Luis.” Joey pulls up on his bike and Paul says, “But Erik did it too!” I thought in my head this
The thugs looked over to find where the howling was coming from and Lemon Brown lunged himself at them, causing himself to roll down the stairs. The thugs went outside of the house and after awhile they left. After seeing how much Lemon Brown adored his treasures, Greg realized that his dad caring so much for him meant everything. Greg now appreciates the lectures about decisions he was trying to make. Greg’s treasure was his relationship with his father all because of Lemon Brown’s story.
In Tangerine, Paul says,” I’ve already been afraid of Erik, now I get to be afraid of Erik and Arthur” (Bloor 17). Paul’s statement affects his father’s choice. Sadly, Mr.Fisher still thinks his boys are very close, whereas in reality, Paul is scared. If Mr. Fisher had told the truth. Their whole family would have been
Imagine living in a town where lightning strikes, muck fires and sinkholes happen all the time. Well in the book Tangerine by Edward Bloor, Paul Fisher lives in a town that has all these terrible events happen almost daily. The town that Paul lives in is Tangerine County. Paul lives with his mom, dad, and Erik. Paul’s dad only pays attention to Erik and spends all his time with Erik because he wants Erik to become a pro football player.
Then he brought it forward in a mighty swing, right at my head.” Later Paul tells his parents that Erik is trying to kill him but Erik was in the house with them.
As his friends are about to be busted Paul swoops in and saves them by attacking a teacher so his friends can escape. This shows the internal change Paul has had throughout the story. From shy and humble to brave and risky, Paul was definitely the most dynamic character in Tangerine. Paul gained the courage he needed to stand up to Erik with the experience and wisdom he learned from the ones around him. Paul realizes that standing up for yourself isn’t easy, but when you do it, you will be treated and respected for your actions and those who have wronged you will be punished.
In the novel Tangerine, Paul the main character has to deal with actions from his family, especially from his brother Erik that affect him physically and mentally. Erik’s choices impacted Paul in a negative way. In the novel Tangerine, Erik is the reason Paul is visually impaired. When Paul was younger Paul has experienced some unpleasant things from his brother. Erik doesn’t think about how he hurts people and how it affects them.
Imagine moving away from home, changing schools, and having a family that won’t even give attention when needed. Paul goes through all of this, and he is left to make decisions that will change his life forever. Three choices Paul goes through are, changing schools, tattling on Tangerine Middle School soccer players, and informing the police about Arthur and Erik’s wrong doings. In the novel, Tangerine by Edward Bloor, Paul moves from Houston Texas to Tangerine Florida, and the first five months are filled with decisions and chaos. The choices made by Paul, and the consequences of those choices, affect the development of his character.
When Eric is just asking an innocent question to the inspector, his father attacks him. “Just keep quiet, Eric, and don’t get excited”. This clarifies how harsh a father Arthur is to Eric and how strained the relationship between both of them is. Instead of politely asking Eric to stay silent, he just shut him out completely with a “Just keep quiet”.
Around the same section, Erik says the name “Castor” which triggers a memory Paul had blocked for a long time, the truth behind his visual impairment and that Erik was at fault for it. This led to Paul accepting it was not his fault and he finally stopped blaming himself for it. In conclusion, Paul started off as a wimpy, fearful kid who ended up finding a lot about himself and turned out a strong, independent young man. He had an incredible arch of character development throughout the entire novel, with changes in himself and the outside of him.
Eric reportedly strangled and sodomized Derrick with a small stick. He also dropped large rocks on Derrick 's head. Eric was reported to have been bullied for his looks and had been
A tangerine is not only a citrus fruit, but also a county in Florida that is home to Paul Fisher and his older brother Erik. In the novel titled Tangerine by Edward Bloor, Paul Fisher, the protagonist, is not only bullied at school, but also at home by his brother, while having to live in the house where his dad lives in the illusion of the “Erik Fisher Football Dream.” In this new county that Paul moves to, he constantly has to put up with natural disasters like muck fires and sinkholes. The move from Houston, Texas to Tangerine County, Florida is the start of a new chapter for the Fisher family, especially Paul.
Jack Anderson, He was my best friend that got adopted a long time ago. I took a deep breath and started to cry. Although even if he was my best friend a long time ago doesn't mean he hasn’t changed, and that it's okay to kidnap someone and threaten to kill them. I drove some more and stopped at taco bell and ordered a supreme crunchy taco and a order of nachos. The alert came on the radio again.
