Has anyone ever told you “The truth will set you free” have you told the truth after that? Well in most all cases that is the truth, in the novel Tangerine by Edward Bloor the main character Paul is able to see the truth but he does not say anything about it. Untill a very tragic event happened his own brother killed a person and Paul knew that but did not say anything about it. The person that died was Luis a person that Paul knew very well. Erik Paul’s brother was a famous football star. Erik’s father was so into the “Erik fisher football dream” that he did not realize that Erik is the reason that Paul is halfway blind. Erik thought that Paul told on his friend and he got in trouble “ You’re going to have to pay for telling on Castor. You told who sprayed paint on the wall, and Castor got into trouble. Castor doesn’t like getting into trouble….. And I remember Erik’s fingers prying my eyelids open while Vincent Castor sprayed white paint into them.” Erik is not a …show more content…
“ But I could hear the roar, even louder now, and I recognized it: the roar of the engine revved up to full throttle…. Then I turned back and saw it-- a black car -- just an outline at first, then clear and detailed… I saw a man hanging out of the passenger window, hanging way out. He had something pulled over his face, some kind of ski mask, and he was holding a long metal baseball bat in both hands, like a murder weapon… The man in the ski mack leaned farther out the window. He pulled the bat back and up. Then he brought it forward in a mighty swing, right at my head.” Later Paul tells his parents that Erik is trying to kill him but Erik was in the house with them. But Paul had a reason to think that Erik might try to kill him. At the end of the novel though Paul stood up to Erik and told the truth to his parent’s the police and everyone else that Erik killed Luis
