Paul in his letter to his son in Lord Timothy encouraged him on three things. First, he warned him against the false teachings of the gospel vs 3-11. This is because there are some who teach the wrong view about the salvation of God. They proclaim that salvation comes from legalism, but here Paul emphasized that salvation has nothing to do with work, but it comes by having a genuine faith in Christ. Henceforth Paul encouraged Timothy to always teach the pure truth and not engage in meaningless teaching just like others do. Secondly, Paul reminded Timothy that we all are not perfect, therefore, He should also be ready to resist wrong teachings of the gospel. Here he encouraged Timothy on the prospect of praying for both people in the authority and for the people they govern. He also talked about the moral issue that affects the spiritual life of a believer. For example, He encouraged the women to pay more attention towards beautiful in character more than being beautiful in outward appearance. In looking at the way Paul’s letter to Timothy relates to my life and ministry., I can say that it has encouraged me to know that God’s salvation comes through His grace and not through legalism. Keeping the law is good, but it does not justify our salvation in Christ. The knowledge of this will improve the way I see people around me. For example, it will make me be less judgmental toward other people around me. Also, People like me always want to be quick to condemn people for no reason. Knowing this will encourage me to understand that everything is not about living in the law rather I should allow God’s love to shine toward the life of people around me without judging them. Furthermore, the letter also encouraged me to strive on living in the truth of the gospel and finally be ready to shut down the evil thoughts in my heart. As an aspiring pastor, I believe that if I can continue to learn how to shut down the devil's evil desire it will help me to leave a well-controlled life as an aspiring pastor or leader in the
