Rod Rosenbladt paints a fantastic picture in his presentation “The Gospel For Those Broken By The Church.” He discusses how the church can often push people away from the Gospel, and, by extension, God. He explains how pastors push people away from Christianity and why many of the “alumni of the Christian faith” are feeling how they do: why some of them feel angry, and why some others feel sad about the Christian faith. Almost all of the verses in chapter five deal with the reality of sin and death, as well as God’s grace and righteousness. When you talk with them, you need to realize that they have been hurt by the church. You can’t try to talk about all the different traditions and doctrines with them, the only thing they need now is Jesus. These traditions and ways of the church can sometimes be overwhelming, especially for one who left because of the church. You have to take little steps to try and bring them back to the faith, you first have to bring them to accept Christ in their life again. We also need to understand their situation, and what they have experienced. It’s not easy to refresh someone who has been burned-out from the Christian faith. There are baby-steps that must be taken so that they, whether they belong to the sad or mad demographic, don’t abandon Christ entirely. Unfortunately, many people end up doing just that.
