The purpose of the police service is to take all reports seriously with professionalism (Neyround, 2008). Consequently, if PC Jones is labelled a ‘sex case’ and is assigned a sexual assault case he may not take the inquiries seriously. The code of ethics includes challenging and reporting improper conduct which has been displayed and as a new employee who has just experienced these behaviours applying the code of ethics means that it must be reported.
