At the young age of seventeen, Pearl married a gambler by the name of Fredrick Hart (Old West Ledgends). While being encouraged at the World’s Fair Women’s Pavilion and by Annie Oakley at the Wild West shows, Hart decided to leave her husband and travel to Colorado. The couple reunited after Fred tracked her down and begged for her to take him back. After a violent fight between the couple, Fred left Pearl and she soon met a miner named Joe Boot. In Nathaniel Hawthorne's novel, The Scarlet Letter, Pearl abandons her once wild, untamed nature for a mature and humane lifestyle, because of her father's public confession. Pearl is originally described as a wild, inhumane child with no regards to the laws of both the town and the Puritan society. Pearl often surprised her mother with her elfish behavior: “It was a look so intelligent...but generally accompanied by a wild flow of spirits, that hester could not help questioning, at such moments, whether Pearl was a human child” (Hawthorne 84). At first Pearl can be seen acting out in direct defiance to the law.
Much to the surprise of the townspeople, Pearl has become a comfort and vindication for Hester. Pearl has found fascination in the letter making it less of a penalty for Hester. She hasn’t been able to be understood by the townspeople because she is seen as a creature of heaven and therefore not understood by those who have impure motives. But Hester also sees Pearl as a burden of her past because without the pregnancy of Pearl her affair would never have been discovered and she would’ve remained as a part of the town instead of an outcast. She gave Hester a lot of grief because she had such an uncontrollable attitude, she was strong willed and crated many annoyances for her
Police brutality has been a raging topic ever since the Ferguson case and officers using excessive force can be stopped by using body cameras to see a cops’ every move. In the article, “Body Cameras Will Stop Police Brutality”, the author brings to concern issues of excessive force to subdue a suspect. The author comments, “Having a video record of events not only deters the use of excessive force, but it also helps dispute or demonstrate claims of police brutality” (Body Cameras Will Stop Police Brutality 1). Having a video recording of an event can save a police officer's job or destroy it. By being a cop who follows the rules and does the right thing, an officer will not have to change his or her behaviors and will continue being himself or herself.
In June 1966 Hart worked at Flint Steel in Tulsa. On one workday, he did not show up at his job. He drove his car, the trunk of which was covered with fresh newspapers, to a popular nightclub area often called “The Corner of Dreams.” From the parking lot of the Fondalite Club, he kidnapped two young pregnant women. One rode in the trunk and the other in the passenger side.
In the Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne, Pearl starts of as a secondary character as the novel progresses Pearl becomes significant to many of the key events of the story. Some examples of this are the scene in the scaffold at night, when Hester meets Dimmsdale in the woods, and when she makes the connection about the letter in her mother's bosom and the reason why the minister holds his hand on his chest. Pearl is a very intuitive, smart, wild and clever child; and at her young age is impressive how this child knows who to trust. She is acts as Hester's conscience as the novel progresses in many ways. Pearl is a very intuitive character making her more interesting.
Due to the potential decentralized nature of a CATF within the division’s rear area, the DSSB would then configure and deliver the supplies for individual distribution at a designated CA company level resupply point. This GS relationship is key to ensure that a CATF is properly sustained to conduct stability operations tasks. Finally, division should consider the limitations of CA forces before establishing the CATF. One limitation is the inability to communicate beyond line of site.
She decided to live on the very outskirts of town in a small, old cottage. She did so in order to distance herself and Pearl from society. Not only was Pearl rejected by society, but she also pushed away any possible friends by her
Crimes ranged from polygamy to murder. One of the most well known criminals was Pearl Hart. Hawthorne states, “... Hester could not help questioning at such moments whether Pearl was a human child. She seemed rather an airy sprite…” (Hawthorne 52). Even though some people see Pearl as a child of the devil, she is actually just a little kid whose mother’s actions reflected badly on her life and made people’s views of her distorted.
To Hester’s shock she discovered that Pearl was more mature and imaginative. Hester practically raised Pearl by herself and Pearl turned out to be a Godly, honest, and innovative young girl. People saw how hard it was for Hester and so things changed. Hester became known as the woman who was able to do anything.
In The Scarlet Letter, Pearl is a very important character and she symbolizes a lot. Pearl is also very smart. She figures out before many of the adults in the town, that Dimmesdale is her father. Pearl also has a big imagination. She when she plays alone, she can turn anything as simple as a stick or a rock into something aminated, and something she play with.
In many parts of the novel she is described as a demon child or elf-child. She is mean, obstinate, and has a fierce temper. Hester says, “She is my torture!”(109) Hester is literally saying that Pearl is not only a blessing but also a curse. Pearl is often evil to everyone even to her mother, but was this Pearls nature, or was it just a reaction of her being isolated and looked down since childhood?
Pearl did not care about other people, “They depended on each other, because of moving around so much” (Tyler 11). “Wherever she and her husband settled, Pearl kept herself isolated from the community, a pattern that continued throughout her life” (Telgen
