Pele embodies the characteristics of an epic hero because he is a national hero, he traveled over a vast setting, and he is humble. Pele is a national hero in his country Brazil, and a national hero is the maximum comparison that you can make with this great athlete due to his amazing skills: “Virtually all great athletes in the sport are measured against this Brazilian who once made the world stop to watch his transcendent play” (“Pele”).
