Two examples are on page 24 and page 103. On page 24, Odysseus protests the chieftains to continue to fight the war and that it would be a shameful thing to leave the war. But Thersites protests Odysseus, who is the Greek war leader. So, Odysseus beats Thersites with a scepter.
Odysseus fits the epic hero archetype because he is a great leader. In The Odysseus, Odysseus and his crew landed on the Lotus-Eaters island and met the people there, his crew was oblivious to the lotus’s effects that made his crew forget about returning home. When Odysseus realized this he yelled to his men, “All hands aboard;/ come, clear the beach and no one taste/ the Lotus, or you lose your hope of home” (Homer 103-105). One of the traits of an epic hero is being a great leader. In this quote, Odysseus shows his leadership by getting his men back on board the ships and leaving.
After “this departure [it] leaves Telemachus with the courage and strength to carry out the instructions he has received” (Murrin 505). This confidence within Telemachus then gives him the courage that he needs to fight off the suitors and protect Penelope from forced marriage. After Athena creates this confidence within Telemachus, she then guides Telemachus by stating that he should head to Sparta after Pylos, and through this guidance Athena creates a man with the courage and bravery to risk his life to save his city. By creating this new character from Telemachus, it later helps Odysseus fend off the horde of suitors. In this battle, due to his courage, Telemachus is able to stand up to these suitors
It was also courageous when him and Telemachus fought off the remaining suitors because they were both greatly
Penelope is a strong, smart, and cunning woman, who didn't need help or crap from anybody. When she said “So every day I wove the great loom, but every night by torchlight”(Document B.) It was a smart move on her half, she knew a way to hold of the suitors until her husband came back. She is the original “Strong woman” Icon. She didn't mess up as much as Odysseus, But didn't do as much either. Another Heroic part is when “She will marry the man who can string odysseus's bow and shoot a arrow through twelve ax-handle sockets.”
Also comparable to a modern hero, Odysseus portrays human qualities throughout the highs and lows of his journey, such as sadness when he learns that his mother had died during his time away. Odysseus should be considered a hero because throughout the good and bad of his voyage, Odysseus continued to lead his crew and came through with all of his

In Greek epics, tragedies, and mythology women are portrayed in various ways. Women are mainly considered to be weak and less important than men, but there are some women who are shown to be strong and heroic, despite the reputation that was placed onto them in Ancient Greek civilizations. There were two particular women that were strong and took the roles of their husbands while the men left to fight in the Trojan War. These two women were Penelope, wife of Odysseus, and Clytemnestra, wife of Agamemnon. These two women were different in how they chose to rule while their husbands were at war and how they acted once they got back.
Even though people typically believe that the main hero of Homer’s the Odyssey is Odysseus himself, the true hero of the Odyssey is Penelope. Even though her entire story isn’t told in the epic poem, you can still tell that she went through struggles and trials just as her husband Odysseus did. Along with going through trials, she comes up with witty ideas in order to overcome them. She is very clever, and she also plans long-term. She is loyal to Odysseus and faithfully waits for his return.
What do we learn about courage in Plato’s Laches? As well as illustrating your answer with reference to the dialogue, critically evaluate what you take Plato to teach us about this virtue in this dialogue. While progress is made on defining courage in Platos Laches, the virtue as a whole is not understood by the interlocutors. Laches and Nicias are able to give examples and situations of courage, however when asked to find a common universal definition they are unable to do so.
Although there are many Greek mythical characters , the character that interest me the most is Pandora. It could have been because she was the first woman human ever created, or maybe what her curiosity caused. according to mythology, this character is the cause for all the evil on earth. The myth behind this character is pretty interesting and it also includes a little bit of romance. As I mentioned above, in the Greek mythology, Pandora was the first created woman.
