Everyone has a part to play in a story, even if it's a small action, it will have a big outcome in the future. In the play, The Crucible, by Arthur Miller, there is a group of young girls, in their teens, crying witchery. After being caught dancing in the forest, they are called witches. Trying to become innocent, they throw others into the fire who have nothing to do with the problem they began. While the girls took this action some people would take advantage of this and have their daughter blame someone they are jealous of. The people blamed would have two options, to confess their actions and be free of their sins or to not confess and be hung for the sin they have committed. For example, John Proctor, married to Elizabeth Proctor and have two children together. John Proctor had an affair with Abigail, who worked for them. Elizabeth decided to fire Abigail after catching her and John in action. “Abigail...It’s she put me out, you cannot pretend it were you. I saw your face when she put me out, and you loved me then and you do now!”( Miller 23). If Proctor hadn’t had an affair with Abigail this scene would not have happened. Abigail is jealous she can’t have Proctor and is trying to convince him that he still has feelings for her. Abigail is putting thoughts into his head, trying to control him, which John decides to ignore and tell her it's over. This decision doesn’t agree very well with Abigail, turning out to be bad news for Elizabeth. Next, another person is Reverend Hale, who was called to look for any witchcraft. Proctor had told this man that it was all a scam. After hearing this Hale has trouble believing it, probably not wanting to believe that he was called to work on a fake case. “Proctor.
