4th Hour Charley Poole District Performance Event Jimmy Valentine was a man that changed his life from robbing banks and being in jail to successfully owning a shoe store. Jimmy valentine is a famous, or rather infamous bank robber that just got out of jail. He found a new town that he would like to stay in. He also goes by the new name of Ralph Spencer. Jimmy Valentine was truly dedicated to living a moral life because he changed his name, he was about to give away his robbery gear, and he gave up crime to start a shoe company.
After a college student went missing, they found him alive and lying face down and bloody by some active train tracks. The investigators of criminal law are trying to understand what led up to the incident. James Hubert, 24, had been discovered without his shoes and a torn dress shirt. When they transported him to the Grady Hospital in Atlanta, the physicians started to treat him for broken ribs, facial bruising and brain hemorrhaging. He also had the potential for paralysis.
Percy’s experiences align with the Hero’s Journey because of these three reasons. First, separation happens to Percy for a while. I know this because in the book it says that he has ADHD and dyslexia so that is what makes him separated from the rest of society. Then, the call to adventure happens. I know this because there is a danger that starts them on their journey and the danger is the monsters that come for them.
Would you change your lifestyle to be with someone you love. Well that is what Jimmy Valentine did to marry Annabelle. Jimmy Valentine is a robber who served ten months of a four year sentence. He robbed banks, and he was the person who cracked open the safes. He also had a special talent of cracking safes in a short amount of time.
By suffering a physical wound, Percy shows another characteristic of a hero. After playing capture the flag a gigantic hound attacks Percy. Chiron, the activities director, the kills the hound, but not before Percy is seriously injured. “By some miracle, I was still alive. I didn’t want to look underneath the ruins of my shredded armor.
For the majority of the novel, Sir Percy hides his true self from Marguerite because he is afraid that she will not understand his missions to rescue French nobility, as she is a Republican. Percy finally reveals his true self to Marguerite at the end of the novel when he knows that he can trust her. After Marguerite rushes to France to try to save him, Sir Percy realizes that her loyalties lie with him and tells Marguerite that he “should have trusted [her] as [she] deserved to be trusted” (259). Through saying these words, Percy accepts Marguerite as his equal and acknowledges her right to know the truth. Percy then calls Marguerite “sweetheart”, which he would never have done earlier in the novel.
John Goodman, a native teenager from Baller County, Georgia, is a high school baseball star and local celebrity; however, his fame, much like most well known bigwigs, didn’t come with ease. John’s determination and dedication to the sport of baseball landed him a place on the All-American team. This, in turn, made Goodman the first player from Baller County High School to be recognized and honored in any extracurricular activity beyond that of the state level; which he achieved in his freshmen year of high school. The young pitcher had many expectations to live up to in the oncoming years due to his spectacular athletic ability on the mound. Aside from his God given superb natural talents, Goodman knew that to accomplish his dream of becoming a Major League pitcher from such a small rural home place that he must never take his training exercises and leadership responsibilities lightly, but to always show no less
Cather describes Percy as having a “smooth, thin face” (Cather “The Bookkeeper's Wife”). We also get a description of his personality as well. Cather writes, “his ledgers were all in their places, his desks was in order, his office coat on his peg” (Cather “The Bookkeeper’s Wife”). By Cather’s description of Percy desk, the reader is able to see that Percy likes neatness. As well, he elikes things the way he does, and that is how they will be.
When a bright object flashes across the sky, neighbors on Maple Street are astonished. After the object flashes across the sky strange things begin to happen. The power in their homes goes out and they start to freak out. After this happens everyone is trying to figure out what happened. Then a kid named Tommy gave the idea of aliens which made everyone start accusing each other.
Percy is also brave, smart, and courageous, but he is also strong and caring. Percy’s main objective in the story is to get out of the underworld and stop a Roman vs Greek battle. Some devices used by the author in this story are alliterations, similes, and personifications. Some similarities in these two books are that both main characters need to solve a problem, both need help from
Initially, when Percy played capture the flag in his camp, his persevere characteristic kept him alive. Annabeth was very close to killing him, but he never gave up, and fought for his team. Subsequently, Percy's mom was abducted by the Minotaur. He wouldn't let his loving and caring mom just go away like that. He snatched the Minotaur horn off of it, and stabbed it with it.
