A hero’s journey can be captivating, inspiring, or motivating this could be said in the movie Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief. What makes this a good movie is that you could see the change in the main character, action, and the adventure Percy goes on. The film does a great job highlighting the details in the novel adaptation and puts it in a nice summary.
Throughout the movie you can could see the use of character development in the main character Percy and both of his friends Grover and Annebeth. Percy goes from this normal kid who faces problems in high school to a hero. As he is on his journey he starts to learn and discover new things which would ultimately change him from what he was before. In the beginning his mom gets captured when Percy and Grover who was making their way to Camp Halfblood for people who are the offsprings of mythical Greek Gods. Percy later finds out that he is the son of Poseidon and in order to get his mother back he must go on a journey to the underworld to give Hades a lightning bolt. Later he finds that he has to give the lightning bolt to Zeus to save the world and Olympus. What makes this movie captivating is the use of the action that doesn’t make the movie boring. As you can see throughout the movie there are hurdles that Percy and his friends go through in order to achieve their goal that they were striving for. While battling they had to work together to overcome that particular problem which teaches us a lesson that we should work together rather than being arrogant. For instance while battling the Medusa Percy, Grover, and Annabeth were working together batting her by helping each other.
