If I were to give you a choice between reading a book or watching the movie? which would you choose? I bet a lot of you said movie. If you said book you don’t need to read this. Here are reasons books are better than movies. The first reason is when you are reading a book the author puts in more details so you can use your imagination and so you can know backstories. The movies make you see detail, but it's not always the right ones. The script writers can’t make movies exactly like the book so they make changes. In the book Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief, Percy and his friends are 12. They are 12 so the readers to see the characters grow, so they can see what the characters were before and what they changed in to. The script writer had other ideas. In this book Percy was 13. Rick Riordan was building up the story making the characters grow and change. The script writer made him 18 in the movie. There are 5 books in the series and Percy is supposed to fight Kronos, an evil Titan who want to take over the ‘gods,’ in the fifth book. In the movie he fights Kronos in the Sea of monsters when he’s 18. When he’s supposed to fight him when he’s 16. Rick Riordan wanted to build the story up with suspense and have the characters grow up in front of the readers. The movies won’t be able to make 3 movies because the characters will be too old and because there is no more story to be told.
