According to the Tenth Amendment of the constitution, “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people”. There have been moments in history where Congress has implemented laws that states felt were unconstitutional. The Constitution gave states the ability to counter the federal government’s power through the Judiciary branch of government, when they feel a law is unconstitutional. The Founders of our nation gave Congress enumerated powers to pass legislation that needs to be abided by all states and citizens. At times Congress will overstep its powers by enacting laws that are unconstitutional and the states have the right to challenge those powers.

In Homer’s The Odyssey, the bond between father and son is strongly emphasized throughout the novel. For example, Poseidon defends his son, Polyphemus the cyclops, by punishing Odysseus for blinding him. Odysseus and his crew are put in life threatening situations, such as deadly storms and monsters, because they harmed a god’s son. Poseidon seems very protective of his son, like any father would be, so the punishment he sends upon Odysseus is done out of respect and value for his family.
The first pivotal plot event that involves Percy is his first encounter with his father. Not to mention, Percy has never seen his father but has only heard stories about him. “Percy told me he had fallen asleep waiting for his father. “What does your dad look like, Percy?” I asked.
Revised Paragraph Firstly, Ares is a very violent and jealous god. An example of this is when Poseidon’s son approaches Alcippe, Ares's daughter. When Ares saw this, his violent side was revealed. The text states that “Ares didn’t hesitate for a moment to brutally murder Poseidon’s son” (Oleander). Evidently, Ares did not even consider any other way to resolve the problem of then killing Poseidon’s son.

Throughout “The Lightning Thief” by Rick Riordan, the main character Percy Jackson grows in many ways. Through application of Joseph Campbell’s Hero Cycle, Percy’s development as a leader over the course of “The Lightning Thief” can be analyzed (Campbell). Percy is born into the hero’s cycle at his natural birth and his call to adventure is the attack by Mrs. Dodds. Percy crosses the threshold, when he leaves Montauk with his mother and Grover and the first trial testing his leadership is on the bus with the furies. Trials exemplifying Percy’s growth include: the furies, Medusa, the Saint Louis Arch, the “Waterland” Waterpark, the Lotus Hotel, Crusty’s Waterbed Palace, and Hades and the Underworld.

At the camp, he is re-joined with his satyr (half human, half goat) friend, Grover. Percy also meets two demigods named, Luke and Annabeth.
