The season of fall is approaching quickly, the temperature is dropping, colors are changing, and it is the perfect time to carve some pumpkins! Carving pumpkins has been a continuous fall tradition for decades. Not only is it easy, but also fun for the family but it can also be used as a decoration for your front porch no matter how awful they might turn out. Pumpkin carving does not require the skills like Leonardo Da Vinci but sure is not as simple as tying someone 's shoe. It is a long, yet exciting process that you absolutely need the patients for. From picking the perfect pumpkin out, slicing the pumpkin open and ripping out it 's guts, to the final step of lighting a candle inside the finished masterpiece, it is the perfect messy seasonal activity to match the spooky season.

Once you have the pumpkin chosen, it is now time to make sure you have all the utensils needed to create your very own masterpiece. You will need a blank sheet of paper and a pen or pencil to sketch out your design if you do not already have one. A few different sized knives to carve out the design and to cut out an opening on the top around the stem. A large spoon to scoop out the insides, a couple thumb tacks, a dark colored marker to draw visible lines on the pumpkin, and candle of your choice either wax or battery powered.
With one of the knives you have set aside to work on the pumpkin you will need to cut a circle around the stem wide enough you are able to maneuver your hand in and out. Do not get rid of the piece cut out, which you will use that again once you have fully completed the carvings. Through this opening you will then use the large spoon to remove any seeds the pumpkin has inside. You could either toss the seeds or toast them in the oven for a tasty snack in the future.
