The realistic fiction book ¨Perks Of Being A Wallflower ¨ by Stephen Chbosky lets us see through the eyes of 15 year old Charlie as he journeys through his first year of highschool. During his freshman year he seeks the guidance of his family, friends, and teachers, as he figures out who he is meant to be. Throughout this novel Charlie discovers things he never knew about himself. Just before Freshman year starts Charlie’s best friend Michael commits suicide leaving Charlie sad and alone. The school year starts off as any other new classes, new teachers, and new classmates. It is a chance for Charlie to start over, but he ends up being shy and unpopular just like last year. Charlie makes his first relationship with his teacher, Bill, who acts as a father figure that Charlie can trust. Charlie then meets ¨Nothing¨, whose actual name is Patrick, in his shop class and later befriends him at a school football game. Charlie’s first impression of Patrick is that he is quite funny and loves football. Patrick then introduces Charlie to his stepsister Sam. This writing style is very easy to follow because they are short letters that are only a few pages. I appreciate this style because the information is broken up nicely and gives readers time to digest it before they move on to a new letter. It is also simple because I understand everything is from Charlie’s point of view so it does not confuse me. Charlie gives his opinion and makes things very clear. I imagine charlie’s voice is a very soothing a calm, and is just the right tone. the one thing I dislike is that not all the information is given so there are still questions
