The film Unbroken honors Louie Zamperini’s ability to persevere the utmost cruel situations. Unbroken was a fairly accurate representation of Louie Zamperini’s life and his survival during World War II, with only minor alterations such as timing. Overall, the director, Angelina Jolie, was not able to capture every detail accurately, yet the details altered only reinforced Louie Zamperini’s extraordinary story of resilience and perseverance. Angelina Jolie begins the film with Zamperini peeking up the skirts of girls in order to portray his troublesome nature, which was an accurate attribute of his personality that allowed him to withstand the dire circumstances he encountered as a prisoner of war.
In the second section of the book, “Unbroken”, the author talked a lot about the experiences of the crew that Louie was with when he joined the army. Louie ended up with Phil and several other men to form a crew with their plane, a B-24 model, which they named “Superman”. They were all great pals who went through thick and thin together, but they believed the chance of survival was slim. One day, they barely managed to get it back to home base on one mission when the enemy relentlessly attacked their plane. However, one crew member was beyond help and several more had injuries that rendered them unsuitable for battle, their plane was also unrepairable.
My perseverance helped me adjust to the situation I was put in and let me overcome my injury. This skill has definitely assisted me in many things in addition to missing out on my junior year softball season. For example, I grew up in an interfaith family. As a result of this, I got used to always having different holidays and family events to participate
Overcoming advers requires being brave and noble. Also, being able to look on the positive side in life in tough situations. Overcoming illnesses, disabilities, or disfunctional families can be very hard to deal with. Sometimes you just need to keep going and not look back and by doing so a lot more opportunities may appear in life. Christy Brown in My Left Foot, Bethany Hamilton, and Jeanette Walls in The Glass Castle are all examples of people who had to deal with great hardships in order to push them to become the successful and mature people that they are today.
Perseverance can get you through anything. If you just give it the effort that is needed, and it will show results. But a man with a very unique rag-to-riches story, proves that perseverance can get you through anything. A man who has seen alcoholism, domestic abuse, child abuse, illiteracy, fear, and powerlessness at it worst. The man name is Chris Gardner.
The common theme in A Worn Path, by Eudora Welty, is perseverance, which is shown through imagery, characterization, and the setting. The story uses many tactics to show that people should never give up on their goals, no matter what struggles lie in their way, and this is shown through the character of Phoenix Jackson, who encounters several physical and mental struggles on her journey. In the very beginning of the story, the setting is already shown, and it is shown to provide the audience with the knowledge that Phoenix is not travelling in easy conditions, “It was December—a bright frozen day in the early morning.” Phoenix chooses to begin her journey in a cold winter month, and also in early morning before the sun has had time to
I have been faced with many challenges with ADHD. It affects every aspect of my life including my behavior, my mood and most of all my cognitive and organizational skills. My late diagnosis made it difficult to accept and understand what was happening. First I was diagnosed with defiant child syndrome because I was not respecting my teachers at school, fighting and just being disrespectful.
Adversity has affected my life in many different ways, but one specifically was when I was a sophomore. I was in an honors class and my teacher was a big stickler for having your assignments in on time. It was a three-part group project. I remember I had needed to finish one small part of the assignment and then had to go to work, but for some reason as soon as I got home, it had spaced my mind and I didn’t turn any of the assignment in. I then was working the next day and saw some of the classmates I had worked with on the project and they asked if I had turned the assignment in.
In order to fight poverty you must have perserverance. In these two stories the only way to survive poverty is to have perserverance in yourself, and the others affected by the terrible situation. To solve poverty you must have perserverance which is shown by the characters, events and setting when poverty seems to overpower them, but they persevere through. Angela's ashes by Frank McCourt portaits the theme of poverty requires perseverance. The characters Frank displays his perseverance to keep his family safe in his actions in the story.
I believe that my ADHD creates challenges in my job such as getting off track, not always finishing everything assigned to me, and the tendency to talk with my coworkers instead of doing my job. Despite the challenges I face in the work environment, I have to give myself reminders on what I am supposed to be doing and try to make more of an effort to get my job done. In addition to the obstacles I face in the work environment, ADHD provides additional obstacles in the relationships that I have with my family and friends. I do not share the fact that I have ADHD with my friends and that I need to take medicine just to feel and operate normal, so I occasionally feel alone or bad about my schoolwork knowing that I have to work harder for the grades I receive. Similarly, issues arise within my family because my parents have the tendency to get upset when I forget to finish my chores, or my desk is a mess and unorganized.
Being a black male in the most segregated city in the United States, hardwork and perseverance is what determines my fate, but ultimately my destiny. That because of the stigma aimed toward black males, I am obligated to work twice as hard, to withstand the sticks and stones that tries to oppress me. That my best is not good enough, whether I received a 4.0 my whole sophomore year, or me thriving to be the salutatorian of my class, I need more than perseverance to make my life meaningful. That is why my mother who didn’t go to college, knows the struggles and obstacles that withheld her from pursuing her dreams. As a result, she knows what is best for me, and how hard it will be to achieve my goals.
When facing adversity, or difficulty, everyone differs in the way they handle it. Some people are like a carrot and start strong and determined but then lose strength and hope. Others are like a coffee bean, changing and making the best of the situation, or an egg which starts out soft hearted and becomes hardened and tough. The way someone deals with adversity, depends on the person and the situation. I, as a person, mostly start as a carrot and am strong but lose that strength.
“Perseverance isn’t one long race; it is many short races one after the other.” - Walter Elliot. When someone is facing their idea of impossible, they must overcome many small bumps in the road and when they get over that small bump it can make them believe in themselves and make them stronger as a person. But perseverance can be well worth it in the end. Through determination, we can learn why perseverance is essential to making us stronger both mentally and emotionally, but we can’t just understand why but also how perseverance help in making us the strongest people we can be.
I love when i show perseverance. Perseverance is about pursuing a higher goal and developing an ability to deal with setbacks and failure on the
As a result of having ADHD, I was very wired up in kindergarten. My teacher had a conference with my mom and discussed some of the problems I had in school. She mentioned the following: I would not sit for more than a minute or two before I was running around the room; I could not stop myself from talking to my classmates in the middle of class, and I was a huge distraction to other kids. When my kindergarten teacher suggested that I
