“Perseverance isn’t one long race; it is many short races one after the other.” - Walter Elliot. When someone is facing their idea of impossible, they must overcome many small bumps in the road and when they get over that small bump it can make them believe in themselves and make them stronger as a person. But perseverance can be well worth it in the end. Through determination, we can learn why perseverance is essential to making us stronger both mentally and emotionally, but we can’t just understand why but also how perseverance help in making us the strongest people we can be. Coming into contact with challenges and struggles can seem awful and unwanted at first. But as we get around those struggles and challenges we can look back and be grateful we went through them. Sometimes we can face something so scary it feels as though we will never get through that stage but when we do that person will be so much stronger because they had to go face to face with what scared them. Challenges are bumps in an individual 's road to success, some may appear bigger than others but perseverance can and will help a person to get over those bumps. The more challenges someone gets past helps them get closer to their goals in life. The results we can gain from perseverance can be essential in the future. Sometimes giving up seems like the best thing to do but if an individual can fight through the difficult times to get to the finish line, they will become even stronger of a person then they started. When someone continuously is facing more and more difficult challenges it can seem unnecessary, but it 's not. When one reaches their goal and looks back at what it took to get there it 'll be worth it. In the end, they 'll be stronger mentally and physically because they were tested at every bend in the road. It 's like a chain reaction. We show each other how to grow and become the people we all want to be. It will start out slow at first but one by one, everyone sees how to persevere together. So instead of an individual just focusing on their own goals sometimes they show another person how to persevere and overcome challenges. Sometimes one person needs to speak up in order to create change. To change society an individual has to be driven, even when they fail they have to keep going. Change doesn 't happen overnight, it takes days sometimes months or even years an example of perseverance is during the civil rights movement. Martin Luther King Jr. fought for civil rights using peaceful protest from the years 1954 until his death in 1968. He kept on persisting and he even put his life on the line in order to get civil rights for those who didn 't have them. Society won 't change itself so we need perseverance to change
