In the short story “Marble Champ” by Gary Soto teaches us a lesson that if you work hard you will succeed. A scientist named Albert Einstein once said, “Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving.” In the beginning of the story, we notice how Lupe learns that hard work pays off.
When lupe is making her thumb stronger that means she can throw the marble harder and farther. This shows that lupe is a role model and hard working. Furthermore, lupe is a role model because she is intelligent. For example in paragraph
Her stick-to-it attitude has propelled her in all areas of her life. In a word, tenacity is a word that fully describe her go-get-it attitude. She is a person that does not except failure
Lastly Lupe challenged herself to exercise. At the beginning of The Marble Champ we see Lupe is always challenging herself to try new things. First challenged herself to try new sports. addition Lupe tried soccer, for soccer one time she kicked the ball in her own goal, baseball, and basketball and she is no good for them.
It’s not easy to be a good leader, but Lupe Medrano is, and she’s great one too. In the story The Marble Champ by Gary Soto, Lupe is a very talented girl. She has a gratifying amount awards and medals for mental contests like writing and reading. Though she is smart she is destined to be athletic as well, Lupe shows a great number of reason to show what a great leader is like.
Lupe doesn't do just normal push-ups though, she does the on her finger tips to improve her shooting. Even when she could just give up because it hurts, she doesn't stop she just tried harder. This means that Lupe is pretty good sport about things. When she wants to stop doing push ups she does one more set. In the beginning of the story the author states “Her thumb was weaker than a neck of a newborn chick.”

Also, in the story it said that “A gust of wind blew in her eyes.” This means that she had to keep trying her best and be determined and to stay focused so she could hit the marble accurately. Lastly, Lupe got 2 big huge trophies. How did she get those trophies? Because she was determined to reach her goal of the sport marbles.
In the beginning of The Marble Champ, the theme of kindness and hard work leads to rewards is shown. In the text, it said that Lupe was spelling bee, playground chess, and library champion. Those awards must be hard to win. I tried the spelling bee last year, and even after studying, struggled the whole time. Lupe probably poured her time into preparing for these competitions.
People think perseverance is a drive fueled by the passion to reach certain goals or goal-oriented, but perseverance is a long-term commitment and a lot of discipline to improve our skills and performance through persistent effort. The Scar Boys by Len Vlahos is a wonderful example that having perseverance can push you to reach your goals. Through the use of character, situational, and symbolic archetypes, Len Vlahos develops the concept of “perseverance” by showing the group of companions always sticking together in gritty situations, and how they persevere through that moment. Through the book, the group becomes a band, “The Scar Boys.”
Lupe Medrano a shy girl who was bad at sports, wanted to be the marble champ. Lupe is the main character in the story “The Marble Champ” by Gary Soto and she is a great role model and that can be hard because not everyone is a role model. She is a role model because she is hardworking, a good sport, and she is very intelligent. The first and one of the best reasons that Lupe is a role model is because she is a hard worker. For example Lupe was determined to win the marble tournament.

Another thing that the author states in her article that gives a good argument is, “I also don't agree that life only allows for Right and Wrong answers... We are human , we make mistakes…”(Gregorio).
Is perseverance is an essential human quality? In life, we are faced with endless misfortune and difficult decisions. A person can think of how they do in each difficult situation they face the same way a character in a movie goes through the character arc. An example of this is when your mom tells you she can't afford to send you to your favorite summer camp this year. You have two options, Accept that your family can't afford it or raise the money needed by getting a job.
