These forms of art are ways for your favorite authors, painters, and artists to express their feelings. Artists can make their audience feel a wide array of emotions, as well as tell stories. This is what African American artists have been doing for a while, like Aaron Douglas and W.E.B Du Bois. Some pieces of their art or works tell a story of their trials and tribulations, while others encapsulate the culture of what it truly means to be African American. Without identity, who are we? Both figures have taken some inspiration from Du Bois in their works as they both believed civil rights went hand in hand with peace. Martin Luther King Jr. was a master of speech. This is his art. To be able to entrance an audience with just his voice. His approach to problems was nonviolent as it was a direct parallel to the brutality they had been facing. He showed the world that issues could be solved with nonviolent protests rather than using aggressive tactics. Due to these beliefs, he was one of the most influential speakers of all time. His voice not only reached in every crack and crevice in the United States, but it also had an effect in places like South Africa as well. King took a strong stance against the government in South Africa because South Africans were struggling to obtain freedom just like those in the United States. Even though South Africans were taking on non-violent methods, they could still be taken to prison for years. Leaders of freedom in South Africa were imprisoned and interrogated over many years, which led to some ending their lives. King was an inspiration to these people during this troubling time and gave them reasons to keep fighting for their freedom, no matter the odds. MLK gave a voice to those who couldn’t speak for
