An antagonist is more often than not seen as someone or something negative in one’s life or story. Antagonists are the enemy, the bad guy, or anything that prevents the protagonist from achieving goals. The actual definition of an antagonist is an opposing person or force, in other words, something that holds you back. When you try to examine personal antagonists, everything bad in your life will come to mind first, but in reality not everything that holds you back is bad. For example, being cautious may keep you from doing certain things, but it also protects you from being open to every opportunity offered to you.
