My life is abnormal, many people will agree, and by the time you get done reading this essay, you will too. It all began in Argentina, and its transition into the US lifestyle and back has really impacted me, my maturing process, and my dependence on my parents. In the following paragraphs, I shall explain my country of origin and its customs, my move to the US and how this affected my education and lifestyle, and finally my carreer aspirations.
“Che, boludo”is how the world recognizes us. A culture like no other, a accent distinct of all Latin America. Born December 21st, 1995 in Buenos Aires, I was accustomed to eating meat every Sunday, drinking Mate and watching soccer every weekend, and learned the Spanish language since I was of age 2. An economic crisis in my home country had drawn me to move 5000 miles north. The introduction of a new language and a new culture would open up my mind, and new foods and customs had transformed me into a native in this huge country as well. Being able to speak Spanish but neither read it nor write it, I would often get mixed up when learning how to read and write. However, after one year and a half of trying, the “country of opportunities” had not worked out for us, leading to my parents divorce, and my return to Argentina. Nevertheless, this would teach me independence and reasoning, for growing up with two distinct ways of thinking would allow me to think for myself and learn everything on my own, which I believe to be one of my strongest suits.
